Information as of November 1, 2026. Check the latest official announcement for the Executive Yuan's formal approval.
Key points
On September 24, 2026, Taiwan's Minimum Wage Review Committee decided to raise the minimum wage from January 1, 2027. If implemented as decided, this will be the 11th consecutive annual increase.
Item | Current | From January 1, 2027 |
|---|---|---|
Monthly minimum wage | NT$29,500 | NT$30,900 |
Hourly minimum wage | NT$196 | NT$205 |
The monthly rate rises by NT$1,400, or 4.745%, and the hourly rate follows the monthly adjustment. The Executive Yuan estimates that more than 2.61 million workers will benefit, about 84% of them Taiwanese.
Current status
The Ministry of Labor said it would submit the adjustment to the Executive Yuan for approval. The Cabinet heard the ministry's report on October 1, 2026, and the Premier described next year's amounts. As of the date above, we have not found an official document stating the approval or an announcement date.
What employers can do now
- Identify employees paid below the new rates and estimate 2027 payroll costs.
- Review contracts and schedules for hourly staff to confirm pay of at least NT$205 an hour.
- Confirm that payroll systems can be updated before the January 2027 pay cycle.
- Watch for the formal Executive Yuan and Ministry of Labor announcements.
The published decision does not mention separate rules for foreign or part-time workers. For specific cases, check with the Ministry of Labor or a professional adviser.
